Nine Random Thoughts on Love*

*The magazine, not the emotion…no waaaay!

(It’s taken me a while to get my arse in gear over this one, so yeah, it’s kind of old news, but oh well.)

1. It’s the only magazine I have EVER read cover to cover, all the way through, every page.

2. The editorial with the dudes in John Lewis pants is cool.

3. I really want The 20 Years Of Supracolor By Alber box. Next time I have 450 quid to drop on colouring pencils (in a box designed by Alber Elbaz!), next time…

4. Kelly Brook dressed up in Indian warpaint with a paintbrush stuck in her hair looks really beautiful.

5. Pixie Geldof has won me over with this random quote. Utterly random, so totally couldn’t agree more!

6. More, more, more Missy Rayder! Ditto Victoire de Castellane, Angelica Huston, Iggy Pop...

7. I like the A-Z idea. It’s something I kind of want to do on here…

8. I majorly want this Gareth Pugh jacket. Just fuelling my love for the sharp shoulder.

9. I am inspired to make some kind of headwear out of cardboard… Maybe not go for the full on box-on-head look, but I think something pretty cool and very cheap may result… Eventually. I’m not the quickest of DIY-ers. (The furthest I've got on those shoulder pads is taking them out of their bag to photograph and then putting them back in again and promptly forgetting about them.)

I refuse to go along the lines of ‘I LOVE Love!!!’ or something equally lame and cheesy (refuse, godamnit!), but I have to say it’s one of the best mags I’ve read in a long time. Vogue is overly fond of featuring investment banker-types lately, and Elle has been a wee bit dull. I liked both the style and the content in Love; it was accessible but interesting. And a fiver for such a fat, content-heavy issue was good, I thought, especially when you consider those super skimpy issues of other magazines you sometimes pay nearly £4 for… Anyway, roll on Issue 2. I shall most certainly be buying you…

Lalallaliyah: I wasn't familiar with those Balenciagas, so I looked 'em up and I think we've found what mine are a rip-off of. I actually kinda like the detail on the front, but the incesant squeaking is doing my head in.
